Psalm 37:7(NLT) Verse Thoughts These words of David have been of great comfort to many who have been overwhelmed by the fights and fancies of evildoers, who in comparison with the godly man, seem to prosper in the ways of the world and who can excite envy from those that are seeking to walk in spirit and truth 7. Be silent to Jehovah, and wait for him; fret not because of the man who prospereth in his way, against the man who commits wickedness. 8. 3. 'Fret Not - Rest In The LORD' / Mount Olive Lutheran Church / Rev. Ted A. Giese / Wed Oct 1st 2014: Season of Pentecost, Psalm 37. Fret not yourself because of evildoers; be not envious of wrongdoers! For they will soon fade like the grass and wither like the green herb. Trust in the LORD, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the LORD, and He will give.
  4. SUMMARY This psalm of David is didactic in nature, filled with instruction for God's people. It was evidently written late in life, in which David shares his observations (25). A recurring theme is who will inherit the earth (9,11,22,29,34), and the answer of the psalmist is one of the beatitudes in the Sermon on the Mount (cf. Mt 5:5)

Psalm 37 is an acrostic, in which every other verse begins with a succeeding letter of the Hebrew alphabet. It is a wisdom psalm, similar in style to what we see in the book of Proverbs. The contrast between the godly and ungodly is explored in depth along with an exhortation to trust in the Lord. Wisdom is critical to the believer; it is the ability to apply knowledge correctly in a manner. Psalm 37:7, Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. A. To be silent = Ecclesiastics 3:7, A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silent, and a time to speak. Many times we are talking when we should be listening. B. To be still, Psalm 46:10. Psalm 37:7-8. Rest in the Lord — Hebrew, דום, dom, Be silent unto, or for, or because of, the Lord: that is, do not murmur or repine at his dealings with thee, but silently and quietly submit to his will, and adore his judgments, and, as it follows, wait for his help. This advice and command is urged again and again, to teach us how hard it is to learn and practise this lesson Clarke's Psalms 37:7 Bible Commentary. Rest in the Lord - דום dom, be silent, be dumb. Do not find fault with thy Maker; he does all things well for others, he will do all things well for thee. And wait patiently for him - והתחולל לו vehithcholel lo, and set thyself to expect him; and be determined to expect, or wait for him Psalm 37 Hoffnung für alle Von Gott gehalten 1 Von David.
